We have nesting ...

of course, not in the whelping box. I am sure Kit would like to have the pups under my computer desk. She just made a very happy sigh from under there.

Last night we both slept in the whelping room. Kit slept a while, then nested some more, adjusting the pillow she was laying on, then slept again. She seemed fairly uncomfortable, but is not in labor yet and still prefers just about anywhere to her whelping box.

Kit is a funny dog and she has always loved to sleep in late in the morning. This morning, she kept us both in "bed" until late morning and then wanted to hang out and cuddle even after waking up. My other dogs all want to get up as soon at first morning light and tend to stay awake until about 11am, when they take their morning nap. I wonder if Kit will pass on her sleeping late desire to her pups.

Kit hasn't eaten anything since yesterday morning, but is drinking water. This is a good sign that labor will be coming. Her temperature has been mid- to lower-99s since Friday morning. It will need to climb a degree or two before labor is on the way.
